Small little cake and coffee shop with calm ambience. They have a really nice lemon drizzle slice with coffee from Santu, a perfect pair for your chill day. The outside seating area is especially lovely, providing a great spot for reading a book and soaking in the peaceful surroundings.

Cracking wee bakery in Causewayside. I had broccoli soup with a cheese scone, followed by a massive slab of carrot cake and an excellent coffee. Already planning my next visit!

When I travel I love to find things in more out of the way spaces. On a recent 10 day trip to Edinburgh I wanted to explore a few different areas away from the main tourist spots. In my research I found Kate’s. I was like it’s my name! Haha. I checked out the other reviews and this spot is well received so I figured I’d add my experience. I got to have a quick chat with Kate’s mom who’d been there to do some of the baking. She was a really lovely lady. I ordered a cheddar scone and the citrus drizzle cake, and a latte. The space is small, with merely shared table spaces. The decor is very cute and homey. The staff were very friendly at nice. The latte was fabulous. The cheddar scone was a bit warm with some slightly salted butter, delicious! The citrus drizzle cake was excellent, moist, and the icing was just sweet and tangy enough. Definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in Edinburgh.

Situated in a very pleasant neighborhood, this place is worth to try as it offers home-made pastries; chill vibes, good quality, definitely give a chance to the rhubarb bun! If you are not visiting Kate's, you are missing one of the BEST breakfasts in Edinburgh.

My wife and I stopped off here for breakfast as a little treat after seeing the 12 week scan of our baby. Shop is very small but it was cute and creative with a minimalistic vibe. It’s shared seating so which I quite liked, so don’t be surprised to be sitting next to a stranger. It’s an open kitchen which is always great and they use as much local produce as possible. The lady that served us (Kate) was pleasant. The selection of food items isn’t vast which is my preference because you get a sense of quality over quantity. They also have seasonal options. I also get the impression that the menu is always adapting but keeps its favourites. They have a good drinks selection. We both got hot chocolates which were brilliant. In fact one of the best I’ve ever had. For food I opted for the granola which was lovely. We shared the sausage roll which came with a curried chutney. The pastry was flaky and the filling was tasty. The added chutney was delicious! I am usually not a fan of coffee but Kate recommended the coffee and walnut cake so I got it. I am glad I did because it was amazing! The cake had perfect texture and tasted amazing. Not too overpowering with coffee, just right. Finally, my wife got a cookie which was delicious. Overall, we throughly enjoyed our time at Kate’s. Great location, couldn’t fault it, even the toilet I liked. We’ll 100% be back. P.S. Since the shop is very small and quite popular there may not be available seating but they do takeaway so all good. There is also limited seating outside.

So glad I found this wee gem of a place. Been there a couple of times, and I can testify that both the savoury and sweet items are absolutely delicious. Love the wild garlic cheese scone, the fennel pork sausage roll, the homemade drinks, the rhubarb muffins... They have lovely seasonal items too! The interior is both cozy and welcoming. Love the selection of books provided at each table. Kate and her staff/colleagues are really friendly. Definitely give Kate’s a visit if you’re in the area!

Loved this little coffee shop off Causewayside. Ordered an oat milk latte with a rhubarb scone, and both were tasty and fresh. Tables are sharing, so you inevitably start talking to people sitting next to you, and I felt like I was sitting next to friends. I would highly recommend checking it out.

We had heard about this place but never been there. Today we were lucky and there was hardly anyone inside. Incredibly delicious desserts, nice prices and smiling staff. Will definitely come back again! Thanks guys!
